Teaming up to help local business owners prepare for sale

We're teaming up with two other York firms to run a free event next month that will help local business owners get their businesses ‘sale-ready’.
The event - Getting your house in order – will run at the Novotel York Centre on Tuesday 17 September. We're excited to join independent financial advisers, Yorwealth, and legal experts, SJP Law, to look at areas for business owners to consider when they come to sell their companies.
Open to business owners and advisers, the event will look at the action owners can take now that will pay dividends further down the line. It will explore the value that business reputation adds to the bottom line; look at how to put your house in order from a legal perspective; and discuss how to plan a financial strategy so that business owners are not stepping into the wilderness when they exit.
Partners director Karen Tinkler will join Yorwealth director and financial planner Oliver Smyth and SJP Law associate director Philip Lewis-Ogden to speak at the event. Karen will look at what company reputation is worth.
Oliver Smyth (pictured, above left) says, “At some point, every owner will exit their business and there’s a lot of talk around when’s the right time to start planning for this. The fact is that whether people are already thinking about selling, or whether the decision is still a way off, there are steps business owners can take that will help create short term value as well as making sure the company is in good shape when it eventually comes to selling.
“We’re all looking forward to discussing some of those steps with business owners and advisers next month.”
Getting your house in order
