Helping Matchtech gain industry recognition to build a better STEM future

The Brief

As a part of the Gattaca Group, Matchtech has nearly 40 years of experience in rail and engineering recruitment.

Following a major company restructure, Matchtech set out to build brand awareness and position itself as a trusted STEM talent acquisition partner whilst taking a proactive approach in addressing the skills shortage to create more opportunities for the next generation of STEM professionals.

Over the years, due to the combination of an aging workforce, and underinvestment in training, pathways into technical and operational roles became unclear, and as a result fewer young people saw rail as an attractive industry, thus leaving the industry facing a serious shortage of skilled workers.

Focused on addressing the skills gap and enhancing the overall reputation of the rail sector, Matchtech set out to showcase the innovations happening within rail and create clear pathways for young professionals to build a better future, one job at a time.

The Campaign

Due to our experience in professional recruitment, manufacturing and engineering, we partnered with Matchtech to enhance brand awareness and highlight its initiatives to promote STEM careers, including opportunities in the rail sector.

We like to start each PR campaign with complete clarity, that is why we spent some time getting to know the wider business and the pain points driving the STEM sectors before deciding our approach.

As Matchtech were keen to share their experience, expert insight and statistics with the wider STEM sectors, we focused our approach around PR and media relations to help the company get its voice heard through identifying media opportunities that aligned with Matchtech, Gattaca and the media agenda.

By leveraging our deep understanding of the rail sector and wider STEM industries, we developed a targeted media campaign to highlight the importance of skills development, inclusivity, and industry challenges.

As a result, the company gained increased visibility, stronger industry recognition, and was invited to participate in rail industry roundtable discussions and podcasts - cementing its role as a key voice in STEM recruitment.

Julia Clark, who led the development of the Matchtech brand, highlighted the impact of our work:

“The Partners team has an in-depth knowledge of both our business and each STEM industry, which helped create a PR strategy that gets our message across clearly. Their proactive approach secured us the right coverage, and their relationship with the media means we are often approached for our expertise within different articles.”

By getting curious, collaborating, and delivering clarity, we successfully positioned Matchtech as a leading force in addressing the STEM skills gap, driving awareness, and fostering change in the industry.
